B’Mitzvah for Children with Special Needs

Becoming B’Mitzvah is an important and special milestone in any child’s life.  All children, regardless of ability or need should be able to celebrate this time, and be proud of this great accomplishment.

As a Child and Youth Worker, I have experience working with children with all manner of exceptionalities, whether they be behavioural or intellectual, as well as children who are identified across the Autism Spectrum. As a Cantor, I have helped many families realize their dream of celebrating a Bar or Bat Mitzvah with their exceptional children.

Unfortunately, many synagogues simply don’t have the resources to provide specialized programming for every child’s special needs. This should not be a barrier to celebrating with your community.  I will work with your family and your congregation and its clergy to create a program that is meaningful and accessible to your child.  We will decide together the best and most appropriate goals for your child, and I will work one-on-one with him or her on a schedule and at a location that is comfortable and suitable to your situation.

If you have any questions, or would like some more information about how I can help your family, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
